Central Christian College originated on the plains of Nebraska in 1884 as Orleans Seminary. Free Methodist preacher Rev. C.M. Damon and his wife started the school for all grade levels from elementary through high school. In 1914, 30 years later, the school was moved to its present location in McPherson, Kansas.  The school added the first two years of college and took on the new name of Central Academy and College.

Long known as the oldest junior college in the state of Kansas, Central College received accreditation from the North Central Association to award its first bachelor’s degree in 1991. In 1999, Central changed its name to Central Christian College to reflect its growing status as a regional four-year baccalaureate Christian institution of higher education.

In 2004, central received official accreditation and approval to offer its remaining majors as four-year bachelor's programs.  Additional majors planned for the future include music education, and insurance.

Central has had 13 presidents in its history.  Inducted in 2010, Central’s current president Hal Hoxie is a retired Full Bird Colonel in the Air Force.  He and his wife Kathy both graduated from Central.  His prior experience includes interacting with the U.S. Congress and the Pentagon.

President Hoxie has implemented changes and created a vision for the college that will carry us into the future.  One of his passions is to reach more people to whom Central can offer our unique brand of education.  In pursuit of this passion, Central has started and grown a robust on-line program and expanded its on-ground division to offer various programs for adult learners that complement the growing residential programs.  He brings a unique and fresh perspective to his presidency at Central.  His vision and Central’s mission is to provide a Christ-centered education for character for the next generation of college-bound students.
